THE GOOD SAMARITAN

As we continue with our summer series on the parables, last Sunday we thought about what it means to be a Good Samaritan, sharing God’s love to all people and in ways that are not always comfortable. Michelle and Jane challenged us to take what we had learnt into our weekly activities and to be a Good Samaritan to friends, family and even strangers. Don’t forget to write how you have done this and to return your cards to the Good Samaritan card stand in church on Sunday (or before). We hope to share some encouraging stories in our 10.30 service this week.

MENTAL HEALTH FIRST AID CHAMPION

Congratulations to Jed who recently successfully attended a mental health first aid training course and is now a mental health first aid (MHFA) champion for Holy Trinity church. Jed also oversees Renew Ripon.

We are grateful to Jed, and all the Renew team, for their care, time and commitment to this twice weekly ministry.

If you would like to know more about what it means to be a MHFA champion, or you are interested in joining the Renew Ripon team, please speak to Jed or contact the office.

MICHELLE IS MOVING ON …

Michelle, will be leaving us to take up a post as Vicar of St Edmund’s Church, Roundhay. She will be licensed at Roundhay on 4th November (all welcome!) and her last Sunday at Holy Trinity will be 13th October.

Further details will follow soon…

In the meantime, we are delighted by this news, although it will be sad to say goodbye. Please hold Michelle, Matt, Isabelle & Joe in your prayers as they prepare to say goodbye to us and begin new adventures in Roundhay.

You may remember that Molly had a stall at church at Christmas time to raise funds for a visit to Ghana. Molly has sent a Thank You and a very interesting reveiw of her visit. To read this click here: Molly in Ghana

HARVEST ADVENTURE 2024

This is another exciting opportunity to set aside some time each day for one week to deepen your relationship with God. 30-minute daily appointments with accompaniers / guides are available. You might think of these daily appointments as a quiet time debrief or a week of daily appointments when you can more fully savour and relish what God is doing in your life. To do this best it will be helpful if you can also set aside some personal reading and reflection time on each day.

A flexible arrangement will be offered this year to enable as many folk to try this out.  We will be offering a series of appointments over one week, but there are two weeks to chose from.  Here are the options:

  • Five consecutive (daily) appointments on the  16th to the 20th September
  • Five consecutive (daily) appointments on the 23rd to the 27th  September

Appointments are available at flexible times during the day and in the evening. If you can’t manage every one of the five days then come on the days that you are available

We are also offering an hour of Quiet and Reflection on the afternoon of Saturday 7th September, 3pm-4pm, as a taster and preparation a little before the Harvest Adventure starts so we might a little time with others who are also journeying over the fortnight. This will be at St John’s Bondgate.

SONGS FOR SUMMER

£1035,65 was raised at the Skelldale Singers concert for Christian Aid!

MISSION PARTNER FOCUS – CPAS

Pray that God would use all that CPAS do to equip local churches to reach men, women and children with the wonderful news of Jesus Christ our Saviour.

During the summer months please pray for the numerous camps and house parties for young people which introduce them to Jesus Christ and do so much to strengthen their faith and encourage them. Pray for the leaders that may be filled with a real talent to communicate with the young people. For  the young people that they be open to the gospel and safety for all concerned.

More details of these camps can be found on the CPAS website.

Please continue to pray for those involved in their Patronage work….this is where CPAS help parishes to appoint new clergy.
