Growing Your Faith

We, at Holy Trinity, want to encourage everyone to grow in their faith journey and we are all at different stages or points along this journey. We’ve had Hope Explored recently – and we plan to run this course at other times too if you couldn’t join one of the courses we have run recently. So please keep your eyes out for these opportunities.

Something that has come out of Hope Explored is a desire for some to continue to meet to study God’s word. To this end Chris Thomson is leading a group on a Wednesday evening at Holy Trinity taking a detailed look at John’s Gospel. If this is something you feel you would like to do please come along any Wednesday evening at 7 pm. If you can’t make this evening it doesn’t matter, just come and see on the next Wednesday evening you can.

This is especially designed for people who may be don’t know a Gospel well – but anyone is welcome to come along to this group.

Friday 2nd February 2024 – North Yorkshire Council’s Sustainable Travel Officer and Spike The Road Safety Hedgehog will be at the entrance to St. Wilfrid’s School before 8.30 am and spend about half an hour greeting the children and parents, handing out some promotional freebees to encourage greener, healthier travel. After Spike has a short break and a breath of fresh air they’ll be going into Holy Trinity School to see some of their children in an assembly at 9.30 am with the event finishing by 10 am.

Working Party – Saturday 3 February, 9.30 am

A couple of big tasks are going to be undertaken by the members of the fabric committee on this day; mainly the clearing & sorting of the lift room (a lot of items have been deposited in here that need a new home) & also the repair of the fence around the car park.

However, we are hoping in addition to these it would be great for people to come along and help give the church building a good dust & clean: removing cobwebs, cleaning the window sills in the church and a lot of glass windows & doors which would also benefit from being cleaned.

A list of tasks will be put together this week but if you are aware of a cleaning task that is required please come prepared to undertake this and if you have a favourite cleaning implement bring that with you too!

We will be doing various jobs: –

  • Sorting out the Lift Motor Room – throwing out any rubbish.
  • In the Carpark straightening out the railing that cars have hit.
  • On the Dais putting up the Hand Rail, that we have just got permission to do.

The plan is to start at 9.30am & finish at lunchtime, but you do not need to stay all morning

Sunday 4 February, 6.30 pm – Come and join us for an evening of Taize Prayer at the Leper Chapel, Magdalens Road, Ripon. They will run through the chants at 6.00 pm. All are welcome. Taize – An Evening Prayer Service of Song and Reflection

Message from Michelle about going on placement

As part of her curacy training, Michelle will be going on placement for 2 months to the United Benefice of Great Ouseburn, Little Ouseburn, Green Hammerton with Whixley and Marton-cum-Grafton. Her last day with us will be Sunday 4 February. She will continue to live in Ripon during this time so you may still see her around, just not at Holy Trinity. Please say hello if you see her and please hold her in your prayers as she serves in this new context during Lent and Easter. She will return to Holy Trinity after Easter.

23 – 24 February – Fiddle Fingers 25 hour non stop Musicathon to raise money for Cancer Research UK and Ehlers-Danlos Support UK. Musicathon!
