Notices of Week of 13 November 2023

Remembrance Sunday

Many who came to Holy Trinity last Sunday said how moving and “special” the Remembrance services were. Special thanks to Jed – who spoke; Janet who played and everyone else who contributed.

Children’s and Youth Ministry Focus Group

This Sunday, 19 November, after Family Church, Alison will meet with the young people (school year 7-13) and listen to what they have to say about Children and Young People’s events and activities at Holy Trinity in Room 5. Please let your children know about this.

Carol Service Choir

Would you like to be part of the choir at our Carol Service on Sunday December 17 at 6.30pm?

Ideally we would like the choir to be made up of the four parts: sopranos, altos, tenors and basses. It is always difficult to find tenors! So if you can sing tenor we would very much like you to join us. As well as the usual well-known carols sung by everyone, we are hoping that the choir will be able to sing two carols. These will be: The angel Gabriel from heaven came and The Shepherds’ Song. You may not be familiar with the latter, but it is easy to pick up.

We will need to have rehearsals and the dates we have chosen for these will be on three Tuesday evenings – Nov 28th, Dec 5th & Dec 12th in church at 7.30pm. It would also be helpful to have a final rehearsal on the day just before the service at 5.30pm.

If you feel confident to be part of a four part choir and would like to be part of it, would you please let David know david@justanote.co.uk or 01765 609394.

Christmas Cards at Trinity

We all know people on their own or at a distance who need that Christmas card contact during the festive season, but before folk get down to some serious Christmas card writing this is just to let you know that we’re going to have a board at the back of Church for people to attach one card with Christmas wishes for all their friends at Trinity, which will hopefully save on time, finger muscle stress and a tree or two.

As a Church family it makes sense to send one card to include everyone, and maybe youngsters (or oldsters!) would like to make a card to go on the board. Look out for the board soon.

Peace

Of course, the events around the world in places like Ukraine, and Israel and Gaza have impacted on all of us. We are promoting prayer for these situations – not to take sides but to pray for peace!

A small group are still meeting every weekday morning to pray between 7 and 8 am in the arches. All are welcome to join in this.

Michelle announced on Sunday that the next Trinity Tuesday will be focusing on praying for peace too. Keep the evening of the 5th December clear if you wish to join in on this.

This week we have received a message from Revd. Ros Latham (Chaplain – St Mary Magdalen) about an initiative to hold a silent vigil for peace in the Market Square between 10 and 10.30 am every Monday starting on 20 November. All welcome to this too.

Advent Study

We hope many folk will want to read this year’s recommended Advent Book: “Stick with Love”. Details of the book and some study options including a “Book Club” gathering in December are here: Advent Study
