Other Opportunities to help

We have had some interest in supporting the events below but if you have thought and not spoken, please get in contact with John about any or all of the following where we need some help.

Breakfast Club has been really successful in obtaining financial support from the wider community in Ripon so financially this is one activity that is well supported – but we are struggling for people to help especially on a Thursday morning at this time of year as some of the team go on holiday. If you’d like to help let Di know or the office.

BOOST Set up and down We have a great team to run BOOST this year – but we are hoping to have a separate team helping to set up and down. There is a bit of moving furniture and equipment involved. If this is something you might be able to help with please see Matt.

Support Cafe Over the Theatre Festival weekend we had a very successful “Dementia Friendly” play. Speaking with the sponsors of this event (Dementia Forward) it is felt that there is a demand in Ripon for a “Dementia Friendly” cafe. We have some families within Holy Trinity who are struggling with this too. We have a very simple idea that would require a few folk to commit to 2 hours a month making tea and coffee, nothing else. If you think you could help with this please let John know in the office.

The Environment

We hope you’ve been enjoying the glorious sunshine lately. It’s a wonderful time of year to make the most of nature and the outdoors. It’s also a time to reflect on the changing climate and the role we play as Christians in caring for God’s creation. The Church has a missional responsibility to care for the earth’s resources and all God’s people, and at Holy Trinity Church we are working towards achieving an ARocha Bronze Eco Award which means we do just that. This means committing to different actions which put climate care at the heart of our worship life and community. There is a small team – Environment Focus Group – who are drawing up a list of actions and events to inform and develop how we might live and work more sustainably as a Body of Christ and as individuals, including partnering with other groups and people within the wider community. There are some exciting plans in progress. Watch this space…..

In the meantime, we are looking for a Parish Environment Officer (PEO) to work with the Environment Focus Team and eventually oversee our eco-mission at Holy Trinity. Could this be you? Do you have a heart for caring for the environment? If you are interested or would like to know more about the role, please get in touch with Michelle on m.lepine@holytrinityripon.org.uk

Christian Aid Week

A big thank you for all who helped and contributed this year. The Ripon group raised over £4,600 which is down on previous years but in the current financial climate is still very welcome.

This Sunday Eating Together

Don’t forget on Sunday if you want to join folk to eat together – bring a Picnic. This is all very informal and a chance to chill after the service.

And a week on Sunday

We have a team of young people on hand to prepare, bake and serve scones after Church on Sunday 9 July. Don’t miss this opportunity!!!

Men of the Dales – Cycle Social

This event happens at Reeth, Dales Bike Centre. 22 July 12.30 through to 5 pm. Bring your own bike or hire from the centre. This will be a mixture of on and off road (not the scary kind!) and will be a sociable pace along the Swale Trail following the river Swale. Contact Harvey on hmerejones@gmail.com
