TECH TEAM

Can you help the tech team? The small laptop that runs the theatre style lights in church is on its last legs and needs replacing. Have you got an old windows touch screen laptop or tablet gathering dust in a drawer that you have long stopped using, that you could donate to the church?

It doesn’t matter if it is old and sluggish and no longer runs the apps you use! We would be running a Linux operating system on it, that can run effectively on the oldest of PCs.

If you think you could help please contact the office or speak directly to Tim Scholes or Nick Pearce.

SATURDAY 14 MARCH, 9.00 am

The informal men’s breakfast has been set up to cater for those who can’t wait to eat in between the Men’s Breakfast meetings we have every other month.  There is no speaker at this event but is an opportunity for people to invite their friends and neighbours for breakfast and get to know some Christian men.

This is a regular event, we meet every second Saturday of the month.

We are currently meeting at the Cafe in Ripon Spa Gardens.

If you would like to know more please call Colin on 07906 259378 for more information.

MESSY CHURCH, 14 MARCH, 4.00 pm

Messy Church is about family, creativity, hospitality and celebration.

It is a place to be with the whole family and join in with craft activities, play games and eat together within a Christian environment.

Messy Church is for everyone.

We meet on the second Saturday of each month from 4.00pm – 5.30pm, and it is free for all those that come along.

There is no need to book, and we look forward to seeing you there and spending time together.

MEMORIAL SERVICE, SUNDAY 22 MARCH, 6.30 pm

This service is for those who have been bereaved during the last few years and also to remember and give thanks for the life of family and friends who are no longer with us.

If you would like a loved one to be remembered in the service, whether you are able to attend or not, you can add their name to a list in the narthex.

BOOKS

MEETING GOD IN MATTHEW by Elaine Storkey (SPCK), which is very suitable for Lent, or for the whole of the year in which our gospel readings in seasonal time will be mainly from Matthew. It is intentionally accessible and includes discussion questions for groups.

MEETING GOD IN JOHN: a companion for Lent, Holy Week, Easter and beyond by David Ford, would also be a possibility since many of the Gospel readings during Lent come from John’s Gospel.

DRAW NEAR; LIFE GIVING HABITS FOR LENT is the CofE’s theme for Lent 2026. 40 daily reflections. NB the reflections for Holy Week and Easter Day are contributed by Kate Bruce who many will remember as a curate at Holy Trinity. (*these booklets are cheaper if bought in packs of 10, so if you are interested it may be worth getting together with others to purchase copies)

REFLECTIONS FOR LENT, HOLY WEEK AND EASTER offers reflections based on the Common Worship Lectionary readings for Morning Prayer. The book also includes a simple form of Morning Prayer and Night Prayer (Compline) so could be used in a daily routine of prayer during Lent.

THE HEART’S TIME by Janet Morley contains a poem and reflection for each day of Lent, Holy Week and Easter Week.  Beautifully written and very accessible, illustrates how poetry can be used to nourish our spiritual lives.

MISSION PARTNERS PRAYER FOCUS

NEW BEGINNINGS

Prayer points:

  • Please pray for all women and children affected by the long term impact of domestic abuse and for the strength and resilience they seek to regain ownership of their life.
  • Please pray for the young people in our preventative course and workshops, may they only know safe, happy and healthy relationships.
  • Please pray for New Beginnings Peer Support’s team of staff and volunteers – for knowledge and support to protect our own emotional safety as we seek to empower our women and children to experience post-traumatic growth.

The iconic cello suites form the pinnacle of the entire cello repertoire, the ultimate challenge and a Mount Everest every cellist has to climb. Considered by many people to be some of the most beautiful music ever written.

LIVING WELL

North Yorkshire Council’s Quit Smoking team have just placed 2 brand new volunteering opportunities into their team.

One of the roles is in person and/or remote – our Community Promotional Support Role -This is a varied role – you could help raise awareness of our services by getting involved in community engagement events in your local area, speaking to local organisations who have an interest in our work or helping distribute information about our services. You could also help us develop our volunteer opportunities, review our information for volunteers or support our volunteer work within your own community.

The other is in person, out in the community and this is the Community Development Support Role – We are looking for volunteers who are sociable, chatty and confident in a face-to-face role in your own local communities. You will be volunteering within various social settings such as schools, libraries, community centres, village halls, homeless shelters and our local libraries.

Foutains Ways – You are invited to attend the formal launch of three new pilgrimage routes on 21 March. Details here.
