PRAYING FOR RIPON, SUNDAY 1 MARCH, 7.30 am

We are meeting at Holy Trinity Church to pray for the whole of Ripon.

This is a Ripon wide initiative that happens on the first Sunday of every month.

Please come and join us.

PRAISE AND WORSHIP, 3 MARCH, 7.30 pm

At this monthly gathering we come to pray together, for our future and ask God to lead us so that we might be in step with his exciting plan for us as a Church.

Under the leadership of Matt, there will  be sung worship, a period of devotional time, prayer stations and an opportunity to be encouraged and prayed for.

There will be no pressure to pray out loud if you do not wish to, so just come and be together as we seek God’s presence and guidance through the next chapter in Holy Trinity’s history.

BOOKS

MEETING GOD IN MATTHEW by Elaine Storkey (SPCK), which is very suitable for Lent, or for the whole of the year in which our gospel readings in seasonal time will be mainly from Matthew. It is intentionally accessible and includes discussion questions for groups.

MEETING GOD IN JOHN: a companion for Lent, Holy Week, Easter and beyond by David Ford, would also be a possibility since many of the Gospel readings during Lent come from John’s Gospel.

DRAW NEAR; LIFE GIVING HABITS FOR LENT is the CofE’s theme for Lent 2026. 40 daily reflections. NB the reflections for Holy Week and Easter Day are contributed by Kate Bruce who many will remember as a curate at Holy Trinity. (*these booklets are cheaper if bought in packs of 10, so if you are interested it may be worth getting together with others to purchase copies)

REFLECTIONS FOR LENT, HOLY WEEK AND EASTER offers reflections based on the Common Worship Lectionary readings for Morning Prayer. The book also includes a simple form of Morning Prayer and Night Prayer (Compline) so could be used in a daily routine of prayer during Lent.

THE HEART’S TIME by Janet Morley contains a poem and reflection for each day of Lent, Holy Week and Easter Week.  Beautifully written and very accessible, illustrates how poetry can be used to nourish our spiritual lives.

SINGING WITH THE STARS, 7 MARCH, 7.30 pm

“Singing With The Stars – A Night To Remember” will be a multimedia spectacular of live onstage songs with a surprise twist!  5 decades of great music 🎶 🎙

All funds raised will go to our mission partner, The Diocese of Lake Rukwa, Tanzania, recently visited by our own Barry Crompton.

There will be an interval for wine and soft drinks.

Tickets now available!

MISSION PARTNERS PRAYER FOCUS

IN2OUT

I’d appreciate prayer for the In2Out team. We currently have two staff members on long-term sick leave. We would appreciate prayers for their healing of course, and for God’s provision and strength for the rest of the team as we continue our work. But also just protection and inspiration for all of us as we navigate the often chaotic world of these young people.

That young people would have the courage to ask for support from In2Out and so open the door to new possibilities. We shouldn’t underestimate what a big deal this is for many, to place their trust in someone new and start to share some of their struggles.

We are still hoping to start taking referrals from HMYOI Werrington (Stoke-on-Trent) this year. For that we need funding, a second team member in the region and a continued open door from the Governor and their team.

Thank you as always for the wonderful support and encouragement we received from Holy Trinity!

LIVING WELL

North Yorkshire Council’s Quit Smoking team have just placed 2 brand new volunteering opportunities into their team.

One of the roles is in person and/or remote – our Community Promotional Support Role -This is a varied role – you could help raise awareness of our services by getting involved in community engagement events in your local area, speaking to local organisations who have an interest in our work or helping distribute information about our services. You could also help us develop our volunteer opportunities, review our information for volunteers or support our volunteer work within your own community.

The other is in person, out in the community and this is the Community Development Support Role – We are looking for volunteers who are sociable, chatty and confident in a face-to-face role in your own local communities. You will be volunteering within various social settings such as schools, libraries, community centres, village halls, homeless shelters and our local libraries.
