CHRISTIANITY EXPLORED

Holy Trinity Church has been selected to reveiw the latest version of the Christianity Explored course. This is a great honour and we are excited to be helping in this way. If you would be interested in helping do this between now and Christmas we will be planning very shortly – times to meet to watch the videos and do the course (as if for real). If you are interested in helping with this please speak to Chris or John in the office. We will most likely make this a day time event.

ST JOHN AMBULANCE PUBLIC AWARENESS SESSION

The St. John Ambulance team are running a free public awareness session on Monday the 17th of November starting at 8pm in the Arches.

They are wanting members of the community to join them, learn about hands only CPR, how to use a public defibrillator and place someone in the recovery position.

The demonstration session will run for just over an hour, then there will be the opportunity for some hands only practice for those who want to take part.

The session is suitable for adults or children age 12 upwards. it is okay not to be able to do CPR. This is an awareness session, so people who can’t get up off the floor or kneel down are welcome, they could tell someone else what to do in the event of an emergency.

The more people who are not afraid to get a community defibrillator out and use it, the more people are given a chance of life!

As you are no doubt aware, Bishop Nick officially retires on 30th November this year and there are various farewell services taking place in each of the Cathedrals over the next couple of months. As a Diocese, we would also like to present him with a gift and so Bishop Toby is asking  if anyone, church or other group (or individual) would like to contribute to a farewell gift for Bishop Nick and Linda: please send monetary gifts in cheque form payable to Bishop of Leeds Special Fund c/o Finance Officer, Hollin House, or bank transfers to Bishop of Leeds Special Fund, SORT code 30-91-12 account 00018083 with a reference “Bp Nick

RIPON CHURCHES WORKING TOGETHER TAIZE SERVICE, ALLHALLOWGATE METHODIST CHURCH, SUNDAY 9 NOVEMBER, 6.30 pm

We will run through the chants at 6pm.   All are welcome.   This service happens fairly regularly and the location will vary.

COFFEE MORNING

The Rural Wellbeing Service in Ripon will be collaborating with Ripon Salvation Army for a coffee morning on Tuesday 18th November, 9.30am-11am, where we’ll also be joined by North Yorkshire Police.

We’ll be exploring two key issues which can impact on our mental health – rising energy costs and concerns about safety:

  • North Yorkshire Police will be taking part in a Q&A on online and personal safety, including scams.
  • Mind in Harrogate District will be sharing advice on managing energy bills, saving money on energy costs, and accessing energy support schemes.

There’ll also be information stalls, along with opportunities for individual chats and to arrange a free 1-2-1 energy advice appointment.

The event is free to attend and open to all. Please see the attached poster for more details.

On Fridays Cafe In The Park are also going to experiment with a ‘Cartoon Cafe’!
They have found that children love to draw guided cartoons – because it’s a lovely way for everyone to draw pretty impressive images!  They have some laminated sheets with simple steps to draw an assortment of characters and animals. All children must be accompanied by an adult.
