Notices of the Week of 20 October 2025

THANK YOU
A big Thank You to everyone who helped make a lovely welcome gift for Phil, Bec and family! Our gifts were a wonderful surprise as they moved into the Vicarage. (The children thought this was a harvest collection – so were very excited to find some of the treats were for them!) They are now taking time to settle into their new home. Remember, that Phil has some much deserved leave time now so let’s leave them in peace, ready to welcome them on 12th Nov.
Thanks everyone.

MUSIC WORSHIP EVENING, 30 NOVEMBER, 6.30 pm – 8.30 pm
This will not be a service as such, but simply a couple of hours of praising our God together through music. This will be a time to enjoy singing and making music together, worshipping God, and encouraging one another.
Everyone is welcome irrespective of your musical ability. There will be different groups playing different songs throughout the evening and we will follow a clear programme to help everything flow smoothly.

PHIL’S INSTALLATION
This is getting close now. We hope you are looking forward to this. Remember the date is: Wednesday 12th November at 7 pm. We still have a good bit to do and will be asking for some help soon especially finger food for the buffet after the service and also to carry out some furniture moving on the 12th during the day – if you are fit and able please can you try and find some time to help – full details will appear soon.

MOVIE NIGHT
We are planning a Movie Night (in place of a Light Party) on the evening of 31 October at 5.30 pm till 7.30 pm. To book your seat go here Movie Night or speak to Alison R.

MOONLIGHT MELODIES WITH CHRIS CROW
Friday 14 November, 7.30 pm. Easy listening hits from the 50s to the 90s (and accompanying quiz). Raising money for Christian Aid.

CHRISTIANITY EXPLORED
Holy Trinity Church has been selected to reveiw the latest version of the Christianity Explored course. This is a great honour and we are excited to be helping in this way. If you would be interested in helping do this between now and Christmas we will be planning very shortly – times to meet to watch the videos and do the course (as if for real). If you are interested in helping with this please speak to Chris or John in the office. We will most likely make this a day time event.

PRAYING FOR RIPON
On the first Sunday of the month we have a small group who meet at church at 7 am to pray for Ripon. We’d love you to come along and join in with this. The next time is November 2 at 7 am. And if your thinking – oh I can’t do that as I’d miss breakfast, don’t forget that we serve breakfast on the first Sunday of the month from 9 am! See next item.

BREAKFAST AT TRINITY
Our next breakfast, served on a Sunday between the 9 am and the All Age 10.30 am service happens on 2 November. Everyone welcome and a good day to bring a friend to Holy Trinity!

ST JOHN AMBULANCE PUBLIC AWARENESS SESSION
The St. John Ambulance team are running a free public awareness session on Monday the 17th of November starting at 8pm in the Arches.
They are wanting members of the community to join them, learn about hands only CPR, how to use a public defibrillator and place someone in the recovery position.
The demonstration session will run for just over an hour, then there will be the opportunity for some hands only practice for those who want to take part.
The session is suitable for adults or children age 12 upwards. it is okay not to be able to do CPR. This is an awareness session, so people who can’t get up off the floor or kneel down are welcome, they could tell someone else what to do in the event of an emergency.
The more people who are not afraid to get a community defibrillator out and use it, the more people are given a chance of life!

As you are no doubt aware, Bishop Nick officially retires on 30th November this year and there are various farewell services taking place in each of the Cathedrals over the next couple of months. As a Diocese, we would also like to present him with a gift and so Bishop Toby is asking if anyone, church or other group (or individual) would like to contribute to a farewell gift for Bishop Nick and Linda: please send monetary gifts in cheque form payable to Bishop of Leeds Special Fund c/o Finance Officer, Hollin House, or bank transfers to Bishop of Leeds Special Fund, SORT code 30-91-12 account 00018083 with a reference “Bp Nick

On Fridays Cafe In The Park are also going to experiment with a ‘Cartoon Cafe’!
They have found that children love to draw guided cartoons – because it’s a lovely way for everyone to draw pretty impressive images! They have some laminated sheets with simple steps to draw an assortment of characters and animals. All children must be accompanied by an adult.
