DEVELOPING A NEW HABIT!

At the last Standing Committee meeting, it was agreed that we would try and encourage people to bring their own cups in for refreshments – more eco friendly; less washing up etc. – for all our activities. Please remember your cups next time you are in church!

YEAR 6 – CHILL AND CHAT

You are invited to come and join us for an evening of Chilling and Chatting before you start your SATs exams on the Monday 12 May.  Talk through any fears or worries about the upcoming exams, look at ways of combatting any stresses you may have and then settle down to snacks and a film.

ANNUAL PAROCHIAL CHURCH MEETING

The Annual Parochial Church meeting will be held this Sunday 11 May after the 10.30 am service. The APCM will focus on receiving and discussing reports from the Parochial Church Council (PCC) on the previous year, receiving the PCC’s annual accounts, and electing members to the PCC. If you would like to consider being a member of the PCC please speak to Nancy or one of the church wardens. New members are always welcome. The Electoral Roll is now closed and has been published (names only). All those on the roll can vote at the APCM.

CHRISTIAN AID WEEK

Christian Aid Week is from the 11th -17th May. As in the last few years we will be distributing envelopes around the parish for the recipients to donate. There will not be a requirement to collect envelopes as there will be stickers on the envelopes as to where to drop  off  their donation and also a QR code to donate directly. Dianne ,Robert and Colin will be looking for volunteers to  deliver envelopes!

This years campaign focuses on Guatemala, which is  hunger hotspot in Central America.Industrialised farming techniques practised by Multinational companies to grow crops and monoculture has robbed the country of much of its water so that locals find it difficult or impossible to grow food for their families  Many children are malnourished. Climate change has also made Guatemala subject to extremes of weather with temperatures often reaching 40c . Through a local partner  Congcoop Christian Aid is enabling like Aurelia, featured on the envelopes, to select, grow and harvest crops which can survive these extremes. Please help by delivering envelopes, praying for CA week and donating.

Wellspring May Prayer Points

On Sunday 18 May Wellspring are one of the named charities for the Nidderdale Walk. This is a great and well-organised day out walking through beautiful Nidderdale. There are 6 distances to choose from 4 to 26 miles so suitable for the whole family, and those taking part can raise money for them by gathering sponsorship. Plus, if they manage to get 10 or more people walking in support of Wellspring they also receive some of their entry fee too. They had teams taking part for the last few years and they have loved the atmosphere on the day. Details here.
