CMS Newsletter from Andy & Kati Walsh

Message from Andy & Kati Walsh:-

I hope you are doing well. Greetings from Florianópolis, Brazil!

I trust all went to plan at the committee meeting. I am writing to you as I’d like to provide an update in terms of how things are going, followed by a request for prayer.

Over the past six months, while our ministry work in the prisons has been consolidating, I have also been working on a new project proposal—something I believe the Lord has placed on my heart. It is a bold plan: to plant a church inside the prisons here, starting with the Florianópolis Penitentiary and also the São Pedro de Alcântara Penitentiary.

I recognise that this is an ambitious vision, but if we discern that it is the Lord’s will, we follow! I also know that if this truly comes to fruition, it will face resistance from the very beginning and at every step along the way, as the enemy has strongholds in these environments. However, if it is God’s will, it will happen, and I will need to move forward step by step, overcoming each challenge as it arises.

Last week the proposal was approved for presenting to the prisons under the authority of the Baptist Church Convention, which is a critical first step forward. The Baptist Church has nearly 40 years of recognized experience ministering within these establishments, making them a strong and trusted partner. This approval means I can now present the proposal to the leadership of each facility. However, I know that this plan will only succeed through prayer. Right now, I am in the early stages of the process, working to schedule meetings to present the proposals to the directorate for both establishments, and I would be grateful for prayer support that even these initial steps move forward in the right direction.

Thank you all for your support and prayers. I look forward to sharing more updates through the newsletters as progress unfolds!
