AN INVITATION TO PRAY FOR OUR NATION ON THE EVE OF THE GENERAL ELECTION
Wednesday 3 July 2024
Allhallowgate Methodist Church, Ripon, 7pm Poster here.
PRAYER AND REFLECTION FOR THE GENERAL ELECTION
The coming General Election is critical for our nation. It raises big questions and is a time for us to play our part in shaping our future and building the kind of country we would like to have. As well as playing our part, we can pray our part. As Christians, our calling is to turn first to God in prayer.
Please also use the suggested prayer activities on the prayer station within the main worship are at church.
PLEASE SUPPORT HOLY TRINITY AND RIPON THEATRE FESTIVAL
Holy Trinity is supporting The Ripon Theatre Festival through Open the Book’s performance of The Story of Daniel in Spa Gardens on Sunday 7 July at 1 pm (straight after church)! This is free and we hope lots will come and enjoy this and all the other free entertainment happening on the day. Bring a picnic and have some great fun.
SONGS FOR SUMMER – 12 JULY, 7.30 pm
A wonderful evening of entertainment at Holy Trinity Church to raise funds for Christian Aid.

A glass of wine and nibles will be available at the interval.
Tickets are available here
Alternatively, call 07958665410, or 07989484129 or visit the Cathedral Bookshop or Holy Trinity Church Office.
DEFIBRILLATOR TRAINING – 22 JULY, 7.00 PM
Most people will have now seen that the Defibrillator is now installed in the bright yellow cabinet at the top of the steps on Church Lane. This has now been registered and is available for any emergencies in the local area. So that we as a congregation have confidence in using the Defibrillator a training evening has been arranged with St John’s Ambulance for Monday 22 July at 7pm in rooms 1 & 2 in the Arches. If you are available please put this in your diaries and come along.
In addition to this a really helpful 2 minute video exists on the British Heart Foundation website by following this link:

BEREAVEMENT COURSE
A bereavement course is being offered at Thorpe Prebend House beginning 18 September, 7.00 pm. See attached flyer for details. Flyer
WHAT DO BOOTHS, BOOKS AND BREAKFAST CLUB HAVE IN COMMON?
Of course, they all start with the letter B. But there is something else. Booths are installing a bookshelf in store for people to take their unwanted books to. Here you will also be able to purchase any book on display for 50p each. And, all the money raised will be going to Breakfast Club funds! A big thank you to Booths and to Gloria and her daughter who have been instrumental in setting this up!
RENEW RIPON IS GOING OUTSIDE!
RenewRipon is hosting wellness walks on a Wednesday evening, in addition to its usual opening times on a Monday and Tuesday. These short walks will start/finish at the Claro lounge from 6 – 7.30 pm on the first and third Wednesday of each month. All will be welcome (including assistance dogs)!
The Renew Ripon hosts need your help! Do you think you could help lead a walk on a Wednesday? Each walk requires two leaders to keep the group safe.
And do you have a favourite walking route around Ripon that you would be willing to share? The route should be no longer than 1.5/2 miles, and of a terrain that is easily accessible to all. I’ve got several routes already, but it would be nice not to repeat them too often!
If you think you can help, please let Jed know, either by email (see church directory), popping down to the Arches on a Tuesday evening from 6.30 – 8.30pm or coming to the Claro lounge on the first and third Wednesday @ 6pm.
MISSION PARTNER FOCUS – RIPON AND RURAL VOLUNTARY CAR DRIVING SERVICE
The Ripon & Rural Voluntary Driving Service is now being run by Tadcaster Volunteer Community Support Association (rather than Harrogate & District Community Action). However, the clients and volunteers remain the same. Volunteer drivers provide transport for individuals to attend medical appointments, shopping or social activities when they are unable to use other publicly provided transport. Please pray for:-
- The continuation of this invaluable service
- More volunteers to come forward
- The wellbeing of both clients and volunteers
