Summer at Holy Trinity

Of course, things change a bit during summer and some of our regular activities don’t happen. However, this doesn’t mean nothing happens!! We plan to continue to publish a weekly notices through the summer. These won’t change a great deal but the service information will change and there may be some updates on the No Plastic – Fantastic when pictures start coming in.

The following highlights some of the things you will need to know:

Renew Ripon continues throughout the summer Mondays and Tuesdays (except August Bank Holiday Monday).

BOOST happens at the end of August (starting 29 August) – make sure you get booked in as we are about three quarters full!

Eating Together happens on the first Sunday of the month after the 10.30 service. It’s a picnic on 6th August and a BBQ on 3rd September.

No Plastic – Fantastic, our summer competition happens all through the school holidays – see below for latest updates.

And get ready for autumn where a lot of new things will be happening. All the usual activities will re-start plus some new ones like: Hope Explored, Alpha, A course on Romans, Evangelism Training, a dementia friendly café, which are all being planned and we have Harvest Adventure returning too!

We are All Together for our service at 10.30 am each Sunday and look out for some differences which we hope you and visitors alike will enjoy. Our theme being: Encounters with Jesus. It was a really well received start on 23 July – so come along.

Wild Flower Planting

Over the past few months Holy Trinity Church has been working with Holy Trinity School about developing a wild flower and nature area within the church yard. This is a great project involving: young people, our community and of course having a positive impact upon the local environment. We have obtained the relevant permissions and are hoping that this will provide a fantastic resource for children and adults to experience an outdoor reflective space.

The school are busy raising a small amount of funds to purchase materials we need. However, to make this go further and to do a bit more for the environment we hope it might be possible to re-claim or re-cycle some materials too! If you plan a tidy up over the summer please keep this project in mind and keep any of the following safe for collection in the autumn:

  • timber any thing larger than 50mm x 50mm (2″ x 2″) cross section
  • a quantity of rope – i.e. not short pieces
  • pallets to build a bug house
  • sundry items that you might have such as: compost, plant pots, wild flower seeds, bird feeders / tables, etc.

We will be in contact again in September with full details.

No Plastic – Fantastic Now on!!

Do you care about the environment? Do you love a challenge?

We invite you this Summer, wherever you travel, whether in the UK, on staycation in Ripon, or overseas, to go on a plastic cleaning mission. Simply collect any plastic items together in a pile and before you recycle the items take a photo of your collected pile of plastic (no faces in the photos for privacy reasons) and email it to us at Holy Trinity Church on m.lepine@holytrinityripon.org.uk with your name. We will showcase the photos on our Facebook page throughout summer and in a video compilation to be shown at our Harvest Celebration service on 1st October.

The challenge runs from 23rd July to 3rd September. Open to all so spread the word!

There will be an eco-prize for the biggest pile of plastic collected (judges’ decision final) – to be announced at the Harvest Celebration Service on 1st October. Let’s make a difference together!

All the info you need is in the image for you to join in with this summer’s competition. Any questions contact Michelle on m.lepine@holytrinityripon.org.uk
