Other Opportunities to help

We have had some interest in supporting the events below but if you have thought and not spoken, please get in contact with John about any or all of the following where we need some help.

Breakfast Club has been really successful in obtaining financial support from the wider community in Ripon so financially this is one activity that is well supported – but we are struggling for people to help especially on a Thursday morning at this time of year as some of the team go on holiday. If you’d like to help let Di know or the office.

BOOST Set up and down We have a great team to run BOOST this year – but we are hoping to have a separate team helping to set up and down. There is a bit of moving furniture and equipment involved. If this is something you might be able to help with please see Matt.

Support Cafe Over the Theatre Festival weekend we had a very successful “Dementia Friendly” play. Speaking with the sponsors of this event (Dementia Forward) it is felt that there is a demand in Ripon for a “Dementia Friendly” cafe. We have some families within Holy Trinity who are struggling with this too. We have a very simple idea that would require a few folk to commit to 2 hours a month making tea and coffee, nothing else. If you think you could help with this please let John know in the office.

No Plastic – Fantastic

Do you care about the environment? Do you love a challenge?

We invite you this Summer, wherever you travel, whether in the UK, on staycation in Ripon, or overseas, to go on a plastic cleaning mission. Simply collect any plastic items together in a pile and before you recycle the items take a photo of your collected pile of plastic (no faces in the photos for privacy reasons) and email it to us at Holy Trinity Church on m.lepine@holytrinityripon.org.uk with your name. We will showcase the photos on our Facebook page throughout summer and in a video compilation to be shown at our Harvest Celebration service on 1st October.

The challenge runs from 23rd July to 3rd September. Open to all so spread the word!

There will be an eco-prize for the biggest pile of plastic collected (judges’ decision final) – to be announced at the Harvest Celebration Service on 1st October. Let’s make a difference together!

All the info you need is in the image for you to join in with this summer’s competition. Any questions contact Michelle on m.lepine@holytrinityripon.org.uk

Men of the Dales – Cycle Social

This event happens at Reeth, Dales Bike Centre. 22 July 12.30 through to 5 pm. Bring your own bike or hire from the centre. This will be a mixture of on and off road (not the scary kind!) and will be a sociable pace along the Swale Trail following the river Swale. Contact Harvey on hmerejones@gmail.com

Mission Partners

Please pray this week for: CPAS (Church Pastoral Aid Society).

Every year many children and young people enjoy and grow through the programme of Venture Holidays, Falcon Camps and School ventures organised by CPAS with a significant number of youngsters coming to faith.

  • Please pray for the Overall Leaders as they finalise plans and preparations for over 50 Ventures, 16 Falcons and 7 School Ventures this summer. For the many volunteers running the camps and particularly for over 350 children and young people on the Falcon Camps who face disadvantage in their daily lives.

CPAS provides excellent training for local churches and for those in leadership and our PCC benefited from doing a course with them recently called “PCC Tonight”.

  • Please pray for the new courses which are responding to change in patterns of ministry. One of many courses is for Focal Ministers, who lead a congregation, fresh expression, church plant or church who may be lay or ordained, salaried or not, full time or part time. Increasingly many dioceses are looking to such people to lead, and CPAS are working on an online learning platform that will offer appropriate leadership training.

CPAS continues its vital work of Patronage (helping parishes to welcome new incumbents)

  • Please pray for this work that as they seek to help appoint mission-minded clergy  we may all continue to pass on to others the gospel that we ourselves have received.
