Notices of Week of 31 October 2022
Our Birthday
Chris mentioned recently that this week saw the passing of Holy Trinity’s Birthday – so to mark the event I’ve added a picture of Revd. Edward Kilvington – our founding vicar. The thing that strikes me about this bust is that the Revd. Kilvington isn’t looking at the congregation he appears to be looking out of the East Window – out towards the community of Ripon. I think this is a great image of our church today looking out for the community around Holy Trinity Church!
Trinity Tuesday
This evening is Trinity Tuesday, if you can please come and pray for Holy Trinity and its work. Starts at 7.30 pm in Rooms 1 and 2 in the Arches. Come just before to grab a drink.
Greeting Card Sales
All through November, on a Thursday, you have the chance to purchase some beautiful cards made by Sam, her friends and the young people who come to HangOut (our Thursday Youth Club). These sales will benefit Breakfast Club – so a double reason for finding that special card.
Outwood Greystones Primary School Harvest Festival
The Open the Book team were invited to Outwood Greystones to perform the story of Naomi and Ruth at their Harvest Festival, which was wonderful. The following week, the collected donations were delivered to Holy Trinity Church – which was a lovely surprise. The donations helped: Breakfast Club supplies; Soup preparation for Thursday Lunch and Lunchbox; and the remainder was added to our Food Bank collection. Thank you Outwood Greystones – you have blessed lots of people in our community!
Restored on Sunday Evening
This Sunday we have Restored at 6.30 pm for a 6.45 pm start. This week we will be looking at Philippians 4: 6-9 A short but amazing piece of scripture. Come and be restored.
A Festival of Music
The annual fundraising concert for Christian Aid is once again being hosted at Holy Trinity Church on Friday 11 November at 7 pm. Details and tickets are available here: Festival of Music
Freedom in Christ Course starts soon
We have a new Freedom in Christ course starting in December. If you feel you are being guided to strengthen and grow your faith in Jesus please consider this amazing course. Details and a sign-up can be reached here: Freedom in Christ. It starts on 3 December so why not use this as an Advent Study, leading into a New Year Resolution and then on into Lent!

Mission Partner Prayer Focus
Please hold in your prayers Lake Rukwa Diocese in Tanzania.
Lake Rukwa is a large (bigger than Wales) and very rural diocese in Tanzania led by Bishop Mathayo Kasagara since its formation. Over the years +Mathayo has gradually built up the diocese. There have been many confirmations and eventually an ordination. Perhaps the greatest achievement has been to build a cathedral in Mpanda. There is still no income other than donations from external sources.
His great work largely done, +Mathayo is now contemplating retirement.
Please pray that this very financially poor Diocese:
- Is able to secure the resources it needs to grow God’s Kingdom;
- That as Bishop Mathayo contemplates retirement, a sound succession plan is put in place; and
- The economy in Lake Rukwa, which remains vulnerable to the environment is stable. Agriculture is directly dependent on annual rainy seasons, and there is a close relationship between variations in the amount of rainfall and a sound economy.

Exhibitions at Ripon Cathedral
I do apologise for the short notice of this. Currently at Ripon Cathedral there are two very interesting exhibitions that finish at the end of the week. The exhibitions are: an Eco Exhibition explaining the Church of England’s goal of Net Zero 2030 and how the Eco Church programme can help; and a beautiful and inspiring exhibition called Threads of Creation by Jacqui Parkinson.
