WORK PARTY TO FIX WOODEN GRAVEL BOARDS TO ARCHES WINDOWS9 NOVEMBER, 9.00 am

The purpose of this Work Party is to eliminate water leakage into the Arches windows by installing wooden boards to hold back the soil around the windows.

We need five volunteers to help Rob and Tom.  The job requires bending down and work on ground and kneeling at times.

It is not a heavy duty job, but does need bending flexibility.

The work required is to scoop out with a trowel and spade the sand surrounding the windows to depth of about 1 ft, (30cm) and then fixing pre-prepared weather boards.

The sand is not compacted, so lifts out easily.  The work is quite delicate as we don’t want to puncture the damp proof membrane.

There will be some wheel barrow work to move old spoil to the back of the graveyard.

Rob, Andrew and Tom have repaired two windows and there are six more to do.

HOW TO SIGN UP:

Volunteers,  please either email Tom on [email protected]

copy to HT office    [email protected].

OR JUST COME ALONG AT 0900 ON 9 November.  If we have a team of 6 we can complete the job in the morning with two people per window.

You will need to wear gardening cloths, gloves and ideally knee pads.  I will have some of these to loan on the day.
