Bread is Life

Let’s make bread – the Syrian way. We’ll mix the dry ingredients, in a bowl bought in a souk from Idlib, then we add water… and wait for it to rise.

And when it is ready, and the room is filled with the smell of freshly-baked bread, we will share it with our friends and neighbours – and enjoy it with Syrian meze.

This happens at Holy Trinity Church (Rooms 1 and 2) on Friday 9 June at midday. Tickets here: Bread is Life

Presented in partnership with Ripon City of Sanctuary

Mike and Millie go to the Seaside

Another event at Holy Trinity on 9 June at 2 pm.

Specially created for those living with later-stage dementia, this charming show takes the audience on a day trip to the 1960s. Using music, dance, mime and rhyme, the performers from Smashing Mirrors Theatre Company provoke memories and stimulate interaction in a safe and comfortable setting. There’s even sand, seaweed and shells to touch and take you straight to the beach. And of course, there will be a cup of tea at the end!

This event is completely free – but space is limited so booking essential. Book here: Mike and Millie

Last Night of the Proms

Tickets are now on sale for this which happens at Trinity on 30 June. Rotary Club of Ripon who are arranging this expect it to be very popular so get your tickets whilst they are available. Click here for details: Proms

Mission Partners

Our prayer focus for a final week is: In2Out.

Prayer Points for In2Out

Mark at In2Out has requested the following particular prayer points:

  • Courage for the young people In2Out meet in prison to step out and ask for, and then accept help. They have often learned the hard way the risks of trusting people, so to start to trust someone who says they want to support them can be a big obstacle to overcome.
  • The families of the young people In2Out are working with. Where they exist the families of the young people In2Out support are often struggling with their own issues, to which has been added the stress of having a child going off the rails and ending up in prison. While In2Out work with their children they are sometimes challenged by the lack of support that seems to be there for the family, who of course potentially also have a huge role to play in supporting the young person to change course.
  • The In2Out team – that they would continue to be resourced, inspired and protected and that they also would have the courage and conviction to keep ‘putting out into deep waters’ to find and support these damaged young people. Please also pray for they efforts as they seek to expand our reach into the Midlands.
