Thank you all for the effort you went to on Sunday (and before, with all the baking!) to celebrate our wedding anniversary last week. And a special thank you to the church wardens/bridesmaids for coordinating it all, we were very touched.

Much love,

Phil and Bec

NOTES FROM THE FOOD SURPLUS TEAM

Every week our church collects surplus food from M & S and the food is used to supplement activities within the church, such as The Breakfast Club, Renew and The Thursday Lunch Club.

There is generally an excess of ready meals and the Food Surplus Team are keen to offer help to members of the congregation and the wider community who are in need, be it through a constrained financial situation, illness, bereavement or difficult domestic situation.

This help is offered willingly and is totally confidential.

Please contact Sally directly or leave a message with the office.

“Ripon Filling Station gathers on Wednesday 1st July at Ripon Bowling Club, HG4 1QW with refreshments from 7pm. We have church leader, songwriter, broadcaster and author Jarrod Cooper sharing with us as part of his latest book tour, “The Altar”. All welcome.”

THE ALTAR is a passionate call to rediscover the wonder of God’s presence and rebuild lives, homes and churches that truly host His glory.

In a world full of noise, distraction and performance, many believers are longing for something deeper — authentic worship, powerful prayer, fresh fire and genuine encounters with God. This book is an invitation back to those ancient paths.

Drawing from Scripture, prophetic insight, revival history and decades of ministry experience, Jarrod Cooper explores twelve spiritual “stones” needed to rebuild a life centred around the presence of God — faith, longing, prayer, listening, purity, humility, honour, warfare, overflow and much more.

More than teaching, this book carries a heartfelt cry for revival and reformation.
It is a call to move beyond routine Christianity into a vibrant, Spirit-filled life marked by intimacy with God, passionate worship and the transforming power of His presence.

Hot on the heels of his books “500” and “The Divine Reset & Beyond”, Jarrod builds on his prophetic call to us that the glory of the Lord wants to flood the earth – and we must prepare for Him!

Whether you are a leader, worshipper, prayer warrior or hungry believer, The Altar will stir your heart to seek God again with fresh expectation.

The fire still falls.
The invitation still stands.
And heaven is still looking for living altars.

An evocative drama charting the deep involvement of the Anglican church in the trans-Atlantic slave trade comes to Ripon Cathedral as part of this year’s Ripon Theatre Festival.

Incidents in the Life of An Anglican Slave is a dramatic play-poem written and performed by Desirée Baptiste. It is inspired by a rare letter written in the year 1723, discovered in the Church of England Archives within Lambeth Palace Library. The letter was addressed from an anonymous Virginian slave to the then Archbishop of Canterbury and to King George I pleading for freedom, while reporting the horrors, abuses and realities of chattel slavery that was approved by the Anglican church at the time.

The Dean of Ripon, The Very Rev John Dobson, DL said: “Once again we at Ripon Cathedral are delighted to be supporting Ripon Theatre Festival and to be hosting this performance which explores an important subject for our time. The slave trade and its abolition were things with which this nation was actively engaged. It is appropriate then, that this event should be taking place in the cathedral, remembering that the Christian Church believes profoundly that the Spirit of God leads us into all truth. The pursuit of truth can be uncomfortable but is ultimately liberating.”

Baptiste’s powerful dramatic interpretation will be performed on Tuesday 7 July in the transept of Ripon Cathedral. It will be followed by a Question-and-Answer session, giving the audience a chance to have a conversation about the development of the piece and the issues raised.

Desirée is a London-based writer and researcher. She has recently contributed to David Dimbleby’s BBC TV programme “What’s the Monarchy For?”.  Incidents has been performed at Chester Cathedral, Lambeth Palace Library, the Edinburgh Fringe and other venues in the UK and overseas, including in Barbados.
