Notices of Week of 25 March 2024
Maundy Thursday and Good Friday
We hope you will be able to join us on Maundy Thursday at 7.30 pm and / or Good Friday at 10.30 am. As you can see some volunteers have been busy setting up the church for these special services.
Easter Prayer and Praise
There will be a very relaxed and informal time of prayer and praise over night on the balcony area in church.
Starting from 6pm Saturday 30th until sunrise on Easter Day morning. All are welcome to come and enjoy the space together. If you would like to (you don’t have to), please feel free to bring anything you want with you i.e. musical instruments, paints, flags, blankets etc.
IMPORTANT ACCESS INFORMATION
Access will be through the main wooden church door which is going to be kept locked – there is a mobile number to text when you arrive to let you in. The way to receive this number is to sign-up .
We will watch the sun rise together but the location of that is yet to be determined – if you would like to do this then please arrive by 5.30am in case we leave the building and walk (NB this is NEW time as the clocks will have sprung forward overnight!). Please do bring warm clothes in case.
All under 18 year olds must be accompanied by an adult.
Unfortunately, people in wheelchairs are not permitted on the balcony – this is because there is not a safe emergency exit for those in a wheel chair.

31 March Easter Day 8 am: Dressing the Cross, Act of Witness on Ripon Market Square
31 March Easter Day 8:30 am: Breakfast after Dressing the Cross at Holy Trinity Arches
The regular services at 9 am and 10.30 am occur on both Sundays too. The services on the Market Square are Churches Together services.
Information Evening – Mental health and trauma-informed pastoral care
Renew Ripon is 2 years old, and we are looking for more people to help with this vital and growing ministry area. Michelle will be holding an information evening on Thursday 11th April 7-8.30pm in Rooms 1 & 2 for anyone interested in finding out more about Renew Ripon or more generally about how mental health and trauma affect us and how we can best care and support people who are struggling in this way. You don’t need to commit to anything at this stage as this is an opportunity to simply find out more. We will be looking at research and recent findings, best practice pastoral care models, including those we use at Renew Ripon, and the example of Jesus in the Gospel of Luke in caring for people with mental ill health and trauma. There will be an opportunity for refreshments, discussion and questions.
There is no sign-up, but it would help to know numbers for planning so if you are able to please let Michelle Lepine, Julie Bates or the office know. Everyone welcome.
BOOST WEEK IS COMING!
Please sign up if you feel you could give some time to our Children’s Boost Week – 27 – 30 August, 8.30 am – 1.00 pm! Any availability from one to all four mornings would be very welcome. Also, we would be very grateful for any unwanted men’s pale shirts. Please speak to Matt, Alison R or Jane G, or anyone else involved.
All proceeds to the Christian Aid Project. Cooked breakfast or cereals and toast available.
We have received a request from Refugee Action York for a member of the congregation to make contact with a refugee, and her son, who have recently relocated to Ripon. If anyone would like to do this, please contact [email protected] / www.refugeeactionyork.org
TEAM LAURENCE FUNDRAISING
“Family board game & have a cuppa fundraising afternoon”
All welcome to join us for a relaxed afternoon playing board games over a cup of tea/coffee and maybe a piece of cake, in The Arches on Tuesday April 2nd from 2-4pm. Feel free to bring a table / board game with you to play with other people. We hope it will be a fun time whilst raising money toward Laurence’s volunteering trip to India.
Mission Partner Focus – Church Mission Society (CMS)
Our new prayer focus this week is CMS – Andy and Kati Walsh in Florianopolis, Brazil
For more information visit churchmissionsociety.org/walsh or see the Mission notice board in the Arches coffee area.
Prayer points
- Their work in prisons is hampered by the various restrictions imposed on them in terms of access and what they’re permitted to do once inside. Pray for the Lord to cut the red tape and open the doors to them.
- Pray they will continue to be encouraged by what they’re seeing the Lord do in people’s lives.
- There is a significant shortfall in their funding, which puts their work at risk. Pray that they will receive increased funding from supporters. If you can help to close their funding gap, please go to churchmissionsociety.org/walsh or call 01865 787489.
This year they will be in the UK between May and July when they plan to meet up with supporters and family. They will be visiting Holy Trinity on June 9th.
