Notices of Week of 26 September 2022
Thank You
Thank you very much for your patience over the past few weeks. We have found a way around some of the technical difficulties we have been facing and hopefully now normal service will be restored. Part of the way around means that the notices will be sent out a little earlier – at least for the next few weeks.
Please note that one element that still has to be corrected is connecting the heating controls back onto the WiFi. This means there could be a delay in getting the heating switched on this autumn. We will keep you posted on any developments.
Urban Saints Landing
Holy Trinity is launching a Christian Club on Thursday lunchtimes at Ripon Grammar School (RGS) in conjunction with Urban Saints formerly starting on 13th October.
The pre-launch took place on Thursday 15th September using the Urban Saints Spiderdome as a space to play games, chat to leaders and explore some of the themes and activities on offer. The club will focus on themes such as ‘Faith’, ‘Identity’ and ‘Big Life Questions.’ It is open to all year groups and will run in term time.
We give thanks for the Senior Leadership Team at RGS who have responded warmly to the idea and pray that this is a fun and safe space for all pupils to meet with Jesus and explore the Christian faith.
The club is being led by Claire-Lise from Holy Trinity Ripon who is also a teacher at RGS with Michelle as Assistant Leader and various members of Holy Trinity, including Matt, and RGS teaching staff helping each week. Please share widely with any families and young people who attend the Grammar School and may be interested and please hold the club, the school, and the leaders in your prayers.
Hang Out
Our Youth Group (formerly known as “Fuse”) has restarted. Hang Out meets on a Thursday evening at 7 pm. Hang Out is for children in Year Groups 6 to 9 (young teens). Details are here: Hang Out or see Matt for details.
Please hold this group; Matt and the volunteers who help run this; and of course the teens; in your prayers.
Chill Out
And another group for young people and teens starting soon is “Chill Out”. “Chill Out” will link in with Restored on a Sunday evening where young people will be able to come to Restored (in The Arches at 6.30 pm) and then afterwards meet for a chat and chill with Matt and his team. More details will come out as the group develops – but Matt will be at Restored this Sunday at 6.30 pm and then be available to meet at “Chill Out” afterwards. Pizza will be available and this will all finish by 9 pm.
Concerts at Holy Trinity
We have had a number of concerts at Holy Trinity recently and and we have lots more over the coming weeks. These events are good because not only do we get income from these, but possibly more importantly, it is also a way for people, who may not normally come to church, to see what we have to offer at Holy Trinity! Here are brief details:
30 September, Ripon International Festival presents: The London Revue Company LOVEetc
1 October, Ripon International Festival presents: pianist, Janusz Piotrowicz
17 October, Ripon Concerts presents: Fitzroy String Quartet
4 November, Markenfield Hall present: Sir Ranulph Fiennes in person
11 November, Ripon Christian Aid Committee present: their Annual Concert (details to come soon)
14 November, Ripon Concerts present: Leah Nicholson Piano Recital
Put these dates in you diary and try and support these if you can.

What’s Coming Up Soon
Mission Partner Prayer Focus
CPAS (Church Pastoral Aid Society) is our current prayer focus. Please pray for:
New Appointment: Jon Scamman its new CEO, taking over the helm from John Dunnett. Jon is an Arrow Leadership Programme graduate, has been vicar of St Thomas’ Lancaster, a CPAS patronage church for the last 12 years, and his children have attended various Venture holidays over the years. Please pray for Jon and his family as they make this transition, as well as praying for St Thomas’ church as they seek a new vicar.
Leadership: The new CPAS book ‘How to Nurture a Culture of Evangelism’ by James Lawrence has been widely distributed. Pray that it is well received and stimulates helpful discussions around evangelism in this country. Also, the Leading Evangelism Learning Hub is an exciting new initiative which helps church leaders think through how to nurture the ministry of evangelism within the life of churches and congregations. The online learning hub consists of eight sessions run over four terms (14 months), a day and evening each term. Several of these have now been started. Pray that those participating find value in these hubs.
Ventures and Falcons: Give praise for 2,430 children at Summer Ventures in 2022 (up from 1,196 in 2021) and 266 children at Summer Falcons in 2022 (up from 170 in 2021). Give thanks for the 2,223 volunteers who helped at these 64 Ventures and Falcons residentials. Please pray that each child (and leader) will have been drawn closer to Jesus as a result of their holiday experience. May God nurture the seeds that have been sown through these times.
Patronage: There are nearly 700 churches across the UK for whom CPAS is their patron. CPAS have extended their staff team to accommodate the exceptionally high number of vacancies at the moment. Please pray for their staff that they would have wisdom and discernment in finding the right people for the roles advertised, plus energy and perseverance to deal with their heavy workload. Please pray also for the many churches who are coping without a vicar in charge at the moment…
